One of the key technical challenges in Vietnam’s rapidly growing papermaking industry is the issue of insufficient dry strength in corrugated paper production. Dry strength directly affects ring crush, tensile, bursting strength, and interlayer adhesion, all of which are critical for the safe transport and storage of packaging paper. The use of high ratios of recycled fibers or low-cost raw materials often results in fragile sheets, increasing the risk of breaks and production disruptions, and leading to material waste.
To address this challenge, T302 dry-strength agent, a reticular-structured amphoteric polyacrylamide, has been widely adopted in Vietnam. Its macromolecular chains contain both anionic and cationic functional groups, predominantly cationic, providing excellent anti-foreign ion interference capability and stability in complex pulp systems. Compared to conventional linear polyacrylamide agents, T302’s networked structure more effectively enhances tensile strength, bursting strength, ring crush, and interlayer adhesion, while maintaining excellent retention and drainage performance.
In practice, T302 is typically added as a diluted solution in the pulp mixing or forming stage, and can be combined with cationic resins to form a dual-agent system for enhanced dry-strength performance. Its stability and compatibility ensure continuous operation of paper machines, reducing the risk of sheet breaks, while allowing the use of higher recycled fiber ratios or lower-cost raw materials, balancing economic and performance objectives.
Moreover, T302 demonstrates consistent high-performance dry-strength enhancement even under high-speed paper machine conditions, making it suitable for corrugated paper, kraft paper, and other packaging grades. Vietnamese manufacturers applying T302 benefit from improved paper physical properties and optimized production efficiency, providing stable, high-quality products for both domestic and export markets.
In conclusion, addressing dry strength challenges in corrugated board production requires the strategic use of high-performance dry-strength agents. T302 offers a technologically mature, high-stability, and versatile solution, ensuring reliable dry-strength enhancement, improved paper quality, and sustainable, cost-effective operation in Vietnam’s papermaking industry.
